FAQ
What is fasting?
Fasting is abstaining from food, drink and or pleasures for a time set aside to seek God.
Why should we fast?
- Power (Matthew 17:18-21 NKJV)
- Clarity (Acts 13:2 CSB)
- Intimacy (Matthew 6:16-18 CSB)
TIPS & INSIGHT
- Fasting comes with a reward, let that reward come from God and not from Facebook. Self righteousness will zap the power and purpose of your fast (Isaiah 58). Fasting is a personal journey between you and God not spirituality contest.
- Fasting is a marathon, not a sprint. We want you to finish, so plan and prepare. We are doing the Daniel fast, so grocery shop before hand and plan each days meals/snacks. Take it one day at time! You may experience some discomfort in the first few days as your body adjust as well as moments on irritability and moodiness. During these time go to your bible and prayer to support and make sure to attend the nights of prayer and worship!
- The best way to teach your children about fasting is exemplify it. We advise participation from only teenage children with full understanding and personal choice.
- Fasting is for seeking God. Make a plan for daily prayer and scripture reading. Visit the Youversion Bible app for great bible reading plan for you during your fast. As Pastor Ramon says “What is set aside is different than what is left over”. Make and protect your time with God during the fast!
- Fasting is a great time to unplug! Be it from our phones, social media, certain types of music and entertainment or extra spending etc. Take advantage of this opportunity to put away distractions and seek God.
